Computers and Email Basics for Beginners

This is a 6 session course for beginners or new users who are just starting to get familiar with a computer, mouse and keyboard. Exercises are included to improve skills in these areas and to create and save short documents. Students will be introduced to the basics of Internet usage; creating an e-mail ID, sending and receiving messages and uploading and downloading attachments and photos.

Computer Fundamentals - Beyond the Basics

This 4 session course is for students who have basic computer experience using the mouse and keyboard. The student will learn the basics of Windows 10 as well as how to use the different features and functions. You will learn how to enter/edit text and to save and retrieve data files.
Student Level: Completed Computers and Email Basics or equivalent computer skills
Applies to: Windows 10.

Creating Documents with WordPad

This 4 session course introduces Word Processing basics, such as paragraph formatting, font style and size using Microsoft WordPad. Moving paragraphs, document printing, and page layout are also covered.
Student Level: Completed Beginning Computers II or basic computer skills.
Applies to: Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Edge-ing the Internet

This 4 session course teaches the student proper and safe ways to browse the Internet usisng Microsoft Edge, the Windows 10  browser. Students will learn basic browsing: file downloading, browser customization, saving favorites and security concepts.
Prerequisite: Completed Computers and Email Basics or equivalent computer skills

Genealogy Fun with Ancestry.com

This 4 session class will teach you how to build and add members to your family tree on Ancestry.com using  its tree storage and research capabiliites, such as Hints and Search. Users may already have an Ancestry account or instructor will advise how to get a trial subscription before the class start date. Students may bring personal laptop or use a classroom PC.
Student Level: Knowledgeable computer users experienced with Web browsing who are beginning or casual Ancestry.com users.
Applies to: Windows 7, 8 and 10.

 Where's My Stuff? (Exploring Files and Folders )

This 4 session course offers ways to manage data storage and files and covers folder creation, structure and organization using Windows Explorer.
Prerequisite: Completed Computer Fundamentals or equivalent computer skills.

Windows 10 - What's New

This 4 session class offers an introduction to Windows 10. It provides an overviews of new features, such as the new Start Menu, taskbar, customizations and the revised File Explorer. Students are encouraged to bring their own Windows 10 laptop.

Word Processing using Open Office

In this 8 session class, you will use Open Office Writer, which is very similar to Microsoft Word. You will learn the procedures to create letters, documents, envelopes, labels, letterheads, etc., using various fonts and clip art to enhance their appearance. This free program will be given to the students at the first session. Open Office Suite includes several programs similar to the Microsoft Office Suite. Topics include paragraph appearances, formatting tabs, lists, spell checker, headers and footers. Included is a reference manual for Open Office Writer.
Student Level: Completed Introduction to Computer Applications or equivalent.
Applies to: Windows 7, 8 and 10.
